On Tuesday I asked my boss if they were going to fill the vacant A.M. position till the permanent one returns from her maternity leave. She said no, she didn't see that they'd fill the position because there isn't anyone around that's trained on the position that wants it, and to train someone new is ridiculous. So, then she asked my why I was asking and I explained that the balance of my bank account had put me in a panic, and that I either needed to make more money or I needed to leave.
I've been looking for jobs for a while now, which she knew, but I just wanted to prepare her for the worst. She told me about this Senior CSR position which would pay more that she was going to talk to the RM about. She called that day, but he was off presenting budgets to Heather, so was unavailable to talk to her that day. Yesterday was her day off.
Today is my day to close, so I didn't arrive there till this afternoon, when I did she was in her office cleaning things up waiting for me. She immediately told me she had fantastic news and then launched into a completely different story which left me thinking, "What? How is this fantastic news."
Anyway, when she put the question to him about the Senior CSR position he sort of hedged on that for some reason but paused for a moment and then said. Well, why don't we make her acting Assistant Manager starting Monday? We'll put her on salary. I'll take care of the paperwork.
So, Yay me! It's not really a fantastic opportunity, but still, it's a step in the right direction. For whatever reason, I love my bookstore job, so I'm glad I don't have to leave it!
