It's Friday, it's early (ish), so I thought I'd answer the Friday Five. These questions are not nearly as bad as they usually are, so here we go.
If you...
1. ...owned a restaurant, what kind of food would you serve?
I have no idea. I've never in my life had a desire to own a restaurant, so I really haven't given it a whole lot of thought. I can cook. In fact, when I put my mind to it, I can cook quite well. I just don't a whole lot. I imagine I'd just have a sort of casual restaurant which would serve a few regular staples and then have a special each day that was different. Likely there would be a lot of pasta (because I like it), and I'd have to make sure to have prime rib once a week (again, because I like it), and... I'm just not sure. While I like to cook when I feel like it, I really can't see myself owning a restaurant, I'd rather be served than have to serve other people.
2. ...owned a small store, what kind of merchandise would you sell?
This one is easy, easy, easy. Books!
When I was in Ottawa one time we ended up doing some window shopping (or as my aunt likes to call it we went out to leche les fenetres), and we ended up looking around in a bunch of antique stores. Antiques are completely not my thing, so I quickly managed to leave there and find myself a bookstore to look around in.
It was a tiny little store which sold nothing but mystery books. And it was the cutest little place. I'm quite sure they probably lost all kinds of money, and if they are still there I'd be extremely surprised. But, the trick would be to find a location that was unpopulated by my employer and set up shop. It wouldn't have to be strictly mysteries, but just a little store would be fun. (I think) And I would really prefer to sell new books rather than used ones, because I don't like used books. I want them to be new and crisp and beautiful.
3. ...wrote a book, what genre would it be?
I'm quite sure I'm not capable of writing a book, but if I was, it'd end up being chicklit. The majority of what I read is chicklit, so I can't see sitting down and putting pen to paper (in the figurative sense, because I'm sure I'd end up typing it), and writing anything else.
4. ...ran a school, what would you teach?
Like any school? Computer stuff I guess. Actually we had this thought for a while that there are all kinds of older people around who know nothing about computers who actually would like to learn but have nobody to show them. I could give people basic computer using lessons and be quite happy. (Especially if they all pay like my grandfather did when I gave him his lessons)
5. ...recorded an album, what kind of music would be on it?
I love to sing. I don't like songs where there's no melody. So, it'd probably be something like say...Sarah McLaughlin, Loreena McKennitt, Celine Dion, Dido, or maybe even Norah Jones. Pretty songs that I can just sing and not have to worry about making the songs completely unlistenable by screaming, or saying the words so fast that you can only catch about one in ten.
So, my answer is that it would be pretty music. :)
