Fender Bender

It's snowing outside. I don't have a particular objection to snow, in fact, in my opinion if it's going to be as cold outside as it has been, then I'd really rather have snow. It can get damn cold without something out there to insulate things. However...

With the first snowfall comes a billion accidents. And today, I was one of those billion. Thankfully I wasn't hurt, and there wasn't anyone else involved. I hit a patch of black ice and couldn't get control of my car. So, I skidded into the curb, and then up above the curb and finally into a pole.

As you can imagine, my car is smashed. I'm going to need to get a new wheel, because the rim was completely bent. A new bumper as well as a new headlight and a new side panel on the front passenger side. I don't know much about body work, but it sure as hell sounds like it's going to be expensive to me.

As I said before, I'm totally fine. I was wearing my seatbelt and as an afterthought on my way out of the house I grabbed my cell phone so I was able to call home, as well as a tow truck. I ended up being out in the cold for almost an hour and a half, so was pretty damn cold, but apart from that the only scars are mental ones.

I wasn't exactly surprised about this, but not one person stopped to see if I was ok sitting there on the side of the road. But, every single person I talked to on the phone made sure that I wasn't hurt, which I'm sure is just a part of their job, but still it was nice of them to ask.

The next step is to contact my insurance company. Any dealings I've had with them in the past have always gone very smoothly, so I'm sure it'll all turn out well. I just hope everything can be delt with quickly, because I need to be able to drive my car!
